Hi all,

Had my carby Ducati 900SS a few years now and not really used it that much tbh. I now have a willing pillion which has spurred me on to get out more and we've done more miles in the last week than the the whole of the last couple of years! paperbag Obviously the old Ducati has it's limitations as a two up machine. I will be keeping it mind you!

We called into a local bike place Sunday and sat on a few bikes, namely looking for more comfort and the ability to go further afield without having to stop and de-ache. The two bikes we're drawn to most are a 2017 Triumph Tiger 800 XRT and a 2019 BMW F 750 GS. We've not sat on the BMW yet, but we are going back tonight to try that one. The Tiger we did sit on and it felt comfy as hell!

Just after opinions on these two bikes from current/previous owners? Thanks!

Another BMW option is the F800GT or even go for something bigger like a 1200RT or 1200RS?

The 1250 RS & RT are better too.

I've not owned either of them, but friends who I ride with have.
Both are good bikes that do a similar thing so it might just come down to which is most comfortable for you.
One thing to watch for is that some of the Triumphs (I don't know about the BMWs) came with spoked wheelswhat used innertubes, so you wouldn't be easily fixing a puncture by the roadside. I don't know if this would be an issue for you or not.

I did go back and sit on the BMW too. Way too low for me. Me and the missus both preferred the Tiger. So a deposit was left and we pick it up first week of July once it's been prepped. Happy days! smile

I think you’ve made a good choice with the Tiger. I did all my lessons on a BMW F750 which I enjoyed riding but I got a decent deal on a Tiger 800 XC and I’ve found it far more comfortable to ride. The brakes seem much better on the tiger too although that could be down to the BMW being a school bike.

I have a gen 1 Tiger 800 (2013) and had test rides on the 750 GS several years ago and the 800 GS last year - they were nice but neither of them were as enjoyable as my bike.

I'd have a Triumph triple over a BMW twin any day

After nearly a month with it, how are you getting on with the Tiger 800?
