12 months and 4 days old, lift the front and it falls apart. Barely used in that year too. Never been dropped, only had I'd guess around 60 hours of ride time

Contacted HJC but I doubt they'll do anything.
Funnily enough my bargain bin 'Nitro' modular helmet still works as good as new and was purchased some time around 2018.
How do Caberg, Spada, Scorpion or J&S's own brand Frank Thomas compare in build quality? Budget around 100-150. Put me off HJC indefinitely. I knew I should've got a Caberg Duke 2 since everyone raves about them but this HJC i90 was on sale and had intercom cutouts in the ears which is a must

I think my Scorpion 1400 is better quality and has better features than my Shoei - which cost almost twice as much - and yet the bloody visor won't to stay open on the three lowest settings

Have you ever heard the slogan ‘Why Arai’. In my experience they’ve been faultless.

I've just bought a Scorpion Exo II-very-long-name touring helmet rather than another GT Air. For £300 compared to £550. The quality seems great, it fits well, is quiet and light. Very pleased so far.

If they give you a voucher for replacement or similar, then I'd go with one of their fixed face helmets with double-D ring strap. I've used HJC for a long time (stupidly, my last helmet lasted 15 years with regular use).

Although I like HJC, I personally wouldn't buy a flip front from them.

The only issue I have with Arai in the decades I've been wearing them is changing the visor, they seem to delight in making the process as complicated as possible.

Depends on the Arai I guess, the RX7 takes seconds.

At the OP's budget I'd look at AGV, but I guess if it's used lightly Caberg would be okay. The Caberg I had was fine, but after a year commuting the lining was very saggy. The cheap AGV I had lasted four years used similarly and I only stopped using it as the visor was shagged beyond rescue and a replacement wasn't much cheaper than a new lid. So I bought another Arai....

I'm a shoei size head, but I've found hic very close and have two of them currently, not tried a flip front though

I'm on my third HJC flip front. After 3 years and 20 thousand miles the interior is getting pretty shabby but mechanically it's still fine.

I found this out recently too. Been a (several) GT-Air boy for the last ten-fifteen years. I bought a HJC 90S Carbon about 6 months ago. So far so good, other than I think the CF interfering with that long-awaited Sena-Cardo bridgey stuff!

Seems I'm not the only one. Maybe this particular model is just a lemon. Piss poor quality control. Apparently they have a 3 year warranty so maybe I'll get some kind of credit. I definitely want a modular again, used them for years and every one has been fine apart from HJC. Only reason I replaced the Nitro is because it doesn't have headphone cutouts. I wear earplugs anyway so the lack of sound deadening in a modular lid doesn't bother me. Worth it for a hot summer day when you just want some fresh air on your face or stop for a moment for a sip of drink

What has the shop that supplied it said? They should be your first call and let them deal with HJC.

100% this. Your contract is with the retailer, not HJC.

When I think of HJC I just think of one end of the market. Sorry.

Being chronically online for so long drives some people to create controversy so they have something to do. Nothing new/exciting

scratchchin

I can point out two long term topics that I started with almost 4,000 posts between them.

You know you can have an opinion that evokes an image. Sometimes that can add abit more, or maybe not. Anyway.

Back to the man's troubles with his helmet.

I have quite a few : Shark , Aria, Nolan , AGV and HJC.

The HJC is similar in design and quality to the others with better safety testing and certificate. It is noisy .

The AGV helmets are now made by HJC .
