After 5 month journey through cbt, theory, mod 1 and mod 2 I got my A license yesterday and could finally take the 2003 cbr600rr i've been upgrading for months out for a ride. I can confirm the wait was worth it 
if anyone is thinking about a bike license go for a CBT and see how youget on, it only gets better as you progress onto larger bikes.
Total cost and time was 9 days vacation and £1600 on training tests and bike hire, which is probably less than learning to drive. You can spend a lot more on your protection gear, tools, security and bikes afterwards.

Insurance quotes started about £250 but went with one that has roadside and gear cover for £350ish so very reasonable considering zero no claims and kept outside (though might show up in the spare room over winter.) Per recommendation I've not stated the chains, anchors and other security items I've added, but it does have a honda key immobiliser which reduced it a bit. There are already a few higher value bikes parked on the street in my village not under covers, so assume it shows as a very safe theft area.

That s fantastic for insurance. Mine started at around £950 for a year on a new MT07. Anyway congrats on passing and safe riding!
That's a cracking first bike, i started on a 2004 GSXR 600, back at the start of 2020 (aged 50 lol), 18 months later i got a Gen 1 Hayabusa which i still have as well as a 95 V Max, aches and pains are normal as you are contorting your body into positions it's not used to, takes a while to get used to a sports bike but they are worth it, even my Busa is slightly wristy after an hour or so, not unbearable though.
