Hello,

Has anyone fitted a 600 lump to one of these new 400's? I know most will say just buy a 600, but I'm just wondering if anyone has? Thanks

Have you rode one ? , I know loads including 1000 cc sport bike riders who absolutely loved my zx4rr , they loved the fact you didn’t have to just turn the throttle to go fast , you had to ride the nuts off it to go fast , to me putting a 600 engine in it defeats the point of it , it’s all about that small screamer engine , reving the nut off it .
That said in a year I just became more frustrated with it by the day , so I get where you’re comming from , but to me it is what it is , to put a 600 engine in it would just defeat the point of it
But best of luck to you if you do go down that route , pics would be nice .

My other thought is it really that special a bike to go through all that work , other than the engine I’m not sure the rest of the bike is anything special to warrant the work involved in fitting a 600 , will it even fit as i found the 400 physically small
One of the YouTube lads was waxing lyrical the other week how brilliant his zx4rr was , 6 months later he’s trading it in for a superduke
Stick a zx10r motor in iit , that would be fun !!
As I said best of luck with your project if you go down that route

Very unlikely the 600 mill will fit in the 400 frame...

Agree with just buying a 600c bike. I think fitting a larger engine pretty much defeats the purpose of the bike, and you'd be better (and likely cheaper) to just get a 600 to start with.

It's a lot of work, the old fzr400 with a thunder at engine looked good, but that's more roomy tham a modern 400.

Probably the same amount of work to fit a zx10r engine to a zx7r, not a morning's work

I don't think this is going to like the old ZX9R engine swap into the ZX7R of decades past.

Seems a bit of weird thing to do as others have pointed out. Only logical reason for me would be if you blew the 400 motor and wanted to replace it, or put in a more interesting engine that isn't offered. Or if it was a sneaky way to get round insurance but would obviously be illegal.

Or the GSX-R 7/11 conversions (1100 motor into 750 chassis) which I used to see at the bike meets in the 90's.

I can see sticking a 600cc engine in one of these .

Why though? Just buy a 600 to begin with.

Especially when the ZX6R performance edition is £3000 less than the bimota 400.

Even the ZX10R is only £1500 more

This screams to me that someone only has an A2 license.
