Hi All,

After 21 years and 42k miles, the oil cooler on my K5 GSX-R 1000 has given up the ghost. It had been corroding for some time, but after a ride last night, I noticed a pool of oil on the floor the next day and started to trace where it came from. The cooler had some oil weeping from it.

I will do a full degrease tomorrow, and then run bike to see if I can replicate the loss, but in the meantime I am trying to source a new oil cooler. The genuine part is £720! Does anyone know where I could get a cheaper one or a good non-OEM equivalent? Are oil coolers interchangeable with K3/K4's or K7/K8's?

This time I will fit a cooler guard to try and reduce some of the salt penetration from winter riding.

I can sort you out one and help with pricing.

I will send you over a PM shortly!

Looks like a K1 - K6 are all the same.

K7 one changed, not sure if they fit. Fairly sure the inlet/outlet hole size was different.

Just replaced the cooler on my K4 Gixxer 1000.
I was told that the coolers are different on the K5, but Robinsons Suzuki will know.

Looking at Fowlers website, the part number appears to be 16600-40F10-000 which is used from K3 to K6.

Yes and K1/K2 were 16600-40F00 which has now been superseded with 16600-40F10 so K1 - K6 are the same, it changed for K7.
