Pretty gutted. MCN says 40 years but Jim effectively took over TT Leathers, so yonks. Real shame to see a landmark from my parents hometown disappear.

Jimmy Aird - legendary motocrosser and all-round good bloke. So sorry it had to end this way.

And as hiccy said, he carried on the remains of TT leathers, the shop from which I bought my first Bell Star II helmet in 1972. I pointed out the old shop frontage to Mrs Rooster just the other day.

A sad day. What happened to Manx Leathers that were very popular in the 80’s with riders like Roger Marshall and James Whitham wearing them.

I had a TT Leathers jacket back in the day. No idea what I did with it. Vintage Lewis leather jackets are selling (or at least being offered for sale) at serious money.
Although back to the OP, truly sad to see them go. They have been a staple of our “hobby” for as long as I can remember.

That is a real shame, another British small business gone. I remember Scott Lethers from my biking days in the late 90s and early 2000s…

Really not good news, although looks very understandable given the unfortunate circumstances due to the owners health problems causing a cashflow issue combined with a very crap environment for small employers these days.

But personally I’m gutted as I’d promised myself a made to measure Scott jacket when I lost a bit more timber. Where’s the incentive now?!

BKS or Hideout, or there's another manufacturer in Barney whose name escapes me atm?

ETA: AM Leathers look closed too.

If you're in the NW you could have a look at Joyda in Hindley, Wigan.

...or if you're in the Midlands, there's https://www.bikersparadise.co.uk/ which is now owned by a PHer. I can vouch for the high quality of their boots and leathers, having bought a fair amount over the past thirty years.

Oh this is sad to hear, I got very good service from Jim, I live local to where his mother lives when visiting her he brought up a selection of jackets and trousers for me to try on, he was great to deal and very helpful.

I bought a brand new two piece and gloves, he gave me a sizeable discount too, and as expected the gear was superb quality.

What a shame its gone.

I got measured for mines in McD's car park at forth bridge and like you picked it up at his mums. He was a good age when I got the suit a couple of years ago, I can't help but think he's just wound it down.
