Hi there

Last month I fitted EBC HH brake pads to my 2023 Triumph Trident (front only), and since then I’ve got was is best described as a “buzzing” noise when I am riding along without using the brakes. This is more noticeable at slower speeds as the noise is then drowned out by the engine when I’m going faster. After searching the internet I’ve read of similar issues with these sintered pads, but no real resolution. Anyone else had similar?

Apparently once they bed in the noise subsides but I’m now on 500 miles since I fitted them. I did take them off and chamfer the edges as I had read this helps, but sadly not in my case. If things don’t improve I might swap them out for OEM.

thanks in advance.

Ive recently had these installed on the front of my Suzuki and havent done 100 miles yet, but I cant say I've noticed anything, although my exhaust is quite loud.
Maybe give them a few more miles, and if you're still noticing it try another brand?

Thanks; you are right, I will give it another 500 miles and see how I go.

I’ve noticed them being noisy in use but not just rolling.

Did you clean the pistons before pushing them in? I’m wondering if you have a little bit of binding?

Likely a sticky caliper piston/pistons.

It's normal for ebc HH pads to buzz in use though. Sounds like this:

If they are buzzing all the time I'd guess you're dragging a pad or two.

Thanks for all the feedback. It does seem like a pad is dragging but when I changed the pads I did clean the pistons with a toothbrush and brake cleaner and they were in excellent condition (it’a 2023). I did change the brake fluid at the same time; I have read that overfilling the reservoir can cause the pads to drag, so will have a check.

I recalled that buzzing EBC HH pads was a "thing".
And indeed, google suggests that this is so, with quite a lot of posts old and new about buzzing EBCs.
Not saying you shouldn't check everything is as it should be but perhaps don't be surprised if it doesn't go away.

Thanks again for the replies; I have checked everything again and it is all fine (the calipers and pistons are in really good shape). I’ve decided to ditch the EBC pads and go back to genuine OEM.

I could put up with the brakes buzzing like that. Some bike I had years ago made a similar buzzing sound like that but not as loud. Not EBC pads though - I've never used 'em.

But wow that video. I thought there must be a wet road for a ZX9R to spin up that low down but all the other japes would indicate dry. It looks like a C model and would have the six pot Tokico callipers, which are pigs of things for sticking pistons....

I’ve done many tens of thousands of miles using EBC HH pads and lost count of how many sets I’ve been through. Mostly on Triumphs too. Never noticed any particular noise unless braking very hard.

Earplugs will probably get rid of it. wink

I changed the EBC pads this morning for genuine Triumph pads and the noise is gone, which is odd.

Thanks again for the advice.
