Apple Carplay / Android Auto Screens for Bikes
Discussion
Do any of you have any experience or recommendations for these new Apple Carplay / Andriod Auto screens for bikes?
I've just got a new to me phone and another new to me bike and wandering whether one of these screens is a better idea than another Quadlock case and the risk that in spite of a vibration damper, it still rattles the camera to death.
Many thanks, Jon

I have 3 motorbikes and each bike has a car play screen.
A 7 inch car puride on the multistrada and smaller sub £40 ali express units on the scrambler and crf 250.
The car puride cost less than a set of replacement cameras for my 3 year old iphone and has done over 10k miles on the bike with no issues.
The ali express units: the first one was a 5 inch screen which cost me £25 iirc, it survived 2k miles on a very vibey 400 triumph scrambler before refusing to connect to my phone, I did buy a similar one (probably exactly the same one with a different wake up screen) and fitted it to my crf250l this has been off road, rained on and generally abused and appears to still be fine.
When I swapped the 400 scrambler for the 1200 scrambler I pushed the boat out and spent £38.50 on a 6.25 inch unit which has done about 1200 miles so far with no issues.
The ali express stuff is a very mixed bag however they are silly cheap compared to those sold in uk shops.

I think my ali express ones are made or at least badged Jansite.
Most come with mounting brackets, hardware and 12v power leads you can wire to an ignition live on the bike, they tend not to have internal batteries for power but do retain settings.
My car puride one connects super quick and responds well it even has some interconnectivity with the smart dash on the multistrada, the ali express ones lag behind it a bit but once connected they operate ok and all of them have much brighter screens than a mobile phone.
Your phone will need to be on you as the device just mirrors that, your phone battery will also be drained quicker due to running the apps (nav music etc) for the car play unit.
If you want to dip a toe a sub £50 ali express unit would be my suggestion

I got an Aoocci c6 for $80 last year. I've not wired it in, just run it through the 12v socket. Its fine, syncs quickly with my phone and does google maps no issue.
I've not wired it in because I don't need it often and I hate a cluttered dashboard. I have a himi 450 which has it's in built tripper app, it's not as good as full fat apple car play, but its been perfect for the few occasions I've need it. Will plug the Aoocci back in next weekend ahead of my euro trip.

I looked into it a while back and initially decided against it. Then one of my dashcams packed up so I bought the upgraded version with android auto off of amazon - a VSYSTO unit.
It seems that the vast majority of them are very likely the same unit with different packaging (Ali Express can be cheaper but I had an Amazon voucher due to the old one failing).
A fair few were also DESPERATELY trying to get people to take a unit for free as long as you promised a positive review (which I declined as there are enough dodgy reviews out there).

Hopefully you get a good one, I think the vibes from the 400 single on my triumph baby scrambler may have done something to a chip on the 5 inch one I had that stopped connecting.
To be fair Ive not tried it with another phone so it may be a firmware issue, it was less than £25 IIRC I suspect I just got a duff one.

Just come back from a week in the Black Forest and Vosges and used my Aoocci C3 for the first time. Really impressed, I only got the basic one on offer for about £40 last year and it worked really well. Maintained connection to my phone which was in the top box and was really useful. I'll probably upgrade to a better version now. Mates on BMWs used Carpuride and they looked very good too, but they had more functions etc than mine, but they were about 5x the price.
Just fitted a Carpuride 702S Pro (£180 from Superbikeshop) to the GX at the weekend, super easy, except for sorting a fused and swtitched powersource - under the tank obvs, very easy to set up, decent 7" screen, all in all for the money I'm super pleased.
All this after struggling with an aging allegedly waterproof phone trying to get away from a wet Liverpool after the TT which started doing rather random things!
