Taking airbag vest on flights

Ive got an Alpinestars tech air 5 plasma vest and and am taking a flight to a bike hire in Spain. I emailed Aer Lingus to get autourization to take this restricted item on the flight.
They have agred that it is ok in principal but the final say is with the staff on the day.
Has anyone any experience of taking air bags on flights.
Hopefully there wont be a jobsworth who will give me a hard time about it. Thanks

No issues flying with mine. Fixed as part of suit. In checked baggage.
Note BA have updated rules on batteries now which absolutely must be in hand luggage.

Thats interesting. British Airways make it much more straightforward. You dont even have to tell them about the air bag at the airport.
With Aer lingus you have to notify them in advance. There is no easy way to email their customer services either. I had to open a complaint on their website and then write up the air bag query.
I had to provide info on the cartridge capacity etc before getting the approval confirmation. Just heading to the airport now, so hopefully no grief.

I guess it’ll depend on the airline. I flew from Edinburgh to Newquay (Loganair) to collect a bike and contacted them in advance to see what their policy was. Had to send them confirmation what has was in the cylinder and some certification stuff. And it wouldn’t be allowed in the hold, and checked again at the airport. No real problems though, but not so sure if I’d just pitched up without advising them in advance.
But other airlines will have different policies, so best to check first. And find the bit in the manual that confirms it’s safe to fly with it and have a copy with you.
