Handbrake

My GTS handbrake often doesn't work on the 1st pull of the lever - it goes straight to the top, even though it does sound like it's 'clicking' OK. Next pull of the lever and it works OK.
Do I need to lube the mechanism by the lever or is there something else I should be looking at ?

Remove centre console and lube the mechanism. that transmission tunnel can get hot and over the years the grease dissipates. It wont need much, just clean it up with a bit of WD40 then a bit of grease.
