My chimaera had failed it's mot, biggest issue was a hole in the outriggers so this will need a repair. Outside of this the garages had some other points, this garage is not a tvr specialist just a normal garage. One of the points was the rear wishbones rubbers are gone (iron on iron) according to them, I'm trying to get a clear view of it but I can't get a good view of how it should be, it looks like mine is normal, one has some iron wear / rust dust. Can anyone check the pictures and let me know if it's ok or not?

If they are wear out I'm thinking to replace all wishbones complete, these are old probably original.
Are there some offers for complete sets, I only see loose wishbones and loose rubbers, rather have a complete set which only need to be mounted.
When all is open, are there some reasonable priced shock absorbers (complete set including springs & rubbers, front & rear), also these seems to be original / very old.

They certainly look worn in the pictures.
If the arms are solid then just re bush them with rubber ones, not a cheap job though unless doing yourself.

You are missing the thrust washers TVR C0192, these are used to stop the wishbone shunting along fore and aft, fitted to the standard bush. They were fitted on production from (I think) late 94 on all cars and 'should' of been fitted by any trader worth their salt if seen to be missing IMHO.
Edited to say, there is a presumption on my part that this is a MK1 version of the lower wishbone (as there is a MK2 version ARB bracket), then, IF all of the thrust washers are missing (front also) you need to check for one piece/ two piece top front wishbones versions (early is two piece with different camber setting). The top rear upright bush without thrust washers will shunt fore and aft 10mm!A@

Suspension bushing question(s):

For when Original equipment suspension bushings are installed:

(1) Does the mounting bolt "pin" the inner sleeve of the bushing to the frame mounts so that the inner sleeve of the bushing is fixed in place (prevented from rolling..) as the control arm moves up & down? If so, that means the rubber in that bushing is what rotates somewhat (20-40 degrees of rotation ) when the car hits bumps in the road.

(2) The side thrust washers Adrian refers to then have an inner hole that slides over the inner sleeve of the suspension bushing.... and therefore prevents the arm itself from moving fore & aft.

Here goes...a bush and two thrust washers

Yes to locking the bush/car up in 'ride height'. there are positions/eyelets (they face a round tube) that do not require both the thrust washers. A@

Thxs Adrian for the pic.
A few last questions to be sure I understand:

1. At each control arm to frame mounting point I need 1 bushing and 2 thrust washers?
2. I have a 1994: is the upper rear bushing ( nearest the exhaust..) the same as the others? or is it bigger/longer ?
if not then ALL the front control arm bushings are the same?
3. Does CentralTVR also sell & ship control arm related parts to the US?

Thxs & Happy Holidays!

Hi, Re each bush to mounting, no, as there are points where they are not required (I think 4 bushes only require 1)
I create special top rear wishbone camber washers for my cars as the eyelet can still jump over the thrusts) and there is a MK2 rear ARB mounting bracket, as Mk1 versions break.
All the front are the same (as I said) there are later Griff/Chim upper (1 piece and two piece that require different camber shims) AND the minor brace across the lower wishbones rot out.
I would speak to Adrian (re shipping) or directly to Pete (he is technical, you will bill through Adrian at Central anyway)...if you do not have a number/email I have one.
You need rear tracking adjusters/nuts pre installed (I am not sure they come with the wishbones), OR ensure the threads are cleaned, as buying a 1" UNF tap is expensive just to clean out powder coat, the correct nuts, bolts 7/16 esp washers (not metric) AND, IMHO all the bushes installed IF you are buying in new outright units (there is damage done at the install point of bushes).
