Hi all

My drive belt squeeks on startup and continues to do so until the engine is fully warm (around 5-10 mins). When idling it hardly squeeks at all but under power it squeeks more regularly.

I've had the water pump and alternator replaced along with the fanbelt last year. I replaced the tensioner pulley last week and fitted my spare fanbelt to rule that out.

Still the same. The final thing to try is replace the bearing in the idler that sits where the power steering pump would be. (Non PAS car)

The bearing only, is £120 from Motoclan. So before i shell out on that i wanted to check i wasn't missing anything obvious. When the belt was off I spun the pulley by hand, it felt okay and didn't sound rumbly. It wasn't silent either.

The bearing is £15 from eBay, I had the same symptoms recently and replaced this bearing. It's a 3305 2RS bearing, cured the problem straight away.

Check your belt routing, its possible to put it on wrong so has less engagement with the alternator pulley.

Many thanks for the suggestions.

I replaced the bearing which solved the issue.

I disposed of the spare PAS pulley about 5 years ago and put a 1260mm belt on it. Not seen any issues.
