Ignition problem?

I just tried to start my Chim and for some reason instead of a lovely V8 roar I just got a series of loud stacatto clicks (sparks?). On a reattempt it started as normal (and has the 3 times since then) but I was just wondering if anyone knows what it might have been and whether to worry at all.

Additional info:
- it *might* have activated the boot solenoid (!) bearing in mind my car has the "Fernhust mod" (keep the driver's door release depressed for over a second and it then opens the boot)
- a new battery was installed last Monday
