Within a minute or two of starting my engine it gives off a smell which is very much like rotten eggs, one or two of my friends have suggested that it could be the catalytic converter at fault, can anybody shed some light on this.

Thanks

Any smell that's like rotten eggs is due to sulphur. This must be Sulphur dioxide which should be converted by your Cat converter.

confused Never had that before with LPG, an occasional whiff of stenching agent like you've left the gas hob on, but never sulfur/rotten eggs, that'll be cats for sure.
