Just ripped the air splitter off the front of my Chimaera (didn't know it was there till I heard the noise!). I went in to my local dealer who said that the majority of the cars he had in the showroom had the air splitters missing (which I checked - right up to a to a '98 model). Two questions: 1) should I get it bolted back on. 2) If not, why is it there in the first place?.

It aids air-flow at high speeds. I speak as one whose engine started showing signs of overheating on a long run at 130+mph, but without a spliter.

On a French motorway, of course -- no, really, ask Ted, he was there...

Are you sure it'a a front air splitter as I thought the Tuscan S/R were the only productions TVR with front splitters?
If it's the front lip spoiler you're referring to then it was missing on my '97 Chimaera for 3 years! A few tracks days and many high speeds on 'private' roads and it made no noticable difference?
Cheers.... Andrew

I also posed a similar question on the Chimaera forum a few weeks ago.
Look it up.
You will find levels of debate, equal in their incomprehensibility to the sort of stuff that bearded, long haired hippies used to talk about @ 5AM on BBC2 on any weekday througout the the whole of the 1970's .
