Hi Spec front brake upgrade.

Hi all, looking at fitting a front brake upgrade with the Hi-spec 2 piece discs and Billet 4 calipers.

Does anyone have the kit fitted, just trying to figure out if the 300mm or the 325mm discs will fit under 16" Imola front alloys?

I've got the Hi Spec billet 4, on 283mm grooved discs on my fronts 15in front wheels. They can send out templates first before you order. They definitely give you more confident breaking. Look good too.

I have the hispec six pots under 15inch estorils, and the brakes are spot on , however don't be tempted to upgrade the rears using hispec as they are rubbish

I thought hi spec were a decent mid priced brand? Why are they so unaffective on the back?

It's not the calipers or the discs, it's the fact the kit doesn't fit right on the rears , fronts where no problem and fitted nicely

Nick has the 300mm six pots on the front under 15in imolas and the hispec rears which on his car fitted fine but it has the early solid disc rears hoofas is the later vented variety and kit as i understand it didnt fit right speak to hispec i found them very helpfull

The handbrake mechanism on the rear Hispec calipers is a poor design

Mine warped badly, had them skimmed, good for a while then warped again... now back on new standard front discs and pads and original calipers... I went for 300mm discs under 16" front estorils....

Arrrrr l see, so the caliper mounting bracket is crap?

It's everything, I changed over to the non vented disc bracket to get them to fit but.........

1. The mounting brackets needed machining to get them to fit ,
2. The handbrake design is a joke, not suitable for a road going car
3. The pad over hang just isn't right , the pads don't even sit properly on the disc and hang over the edge of the disc, and from the off all I got was pads rattling on the discs from day one !


So ripped them off binned them ,and now fitted the reyland rear disc conversion and standard calipers, spot on bb

I'm looking for a sensibly priced upgrade to my Griff 400 fronts. 15" rims. The disk and caliper in your picture looks good to me. Please advise the spec and source. Thanks a lot :-)

if people would invest a bit more time in properly renovating /maintaining their original brakes, or taking care which pads (friction) they use, instead immediately jumping on the hi-spec or willwood train, things would often be much easier.

It is a bit weird tbh, the one thing on the car which I've never had to worry about or think about upgrading on any of my TVR's are the brakes.

They look like hi spec calipers to me, both pictures look the same anyway.

I suspect that the TVR branded ones are sourced from HansD
