Not wishing to offend anyone by asking this question, it is genuine.

How does a 5l Chimaera fair against a Cerbera, of any engine configuration?

And the handling?

What about power application, how does that differ?

AFAIK, the Cerbie will WALK all over the Chim.

Experts will be along shortly to elaborate!

over 100 mph, definately. in the real world driving, not so clear cut. not too much in it, but would say the 5l RV8's with all that torque have the edge at legal speeds.

just look at the 30-50, 50-70 etc times.

dangerously close to a thread hijack, but how does your Tuscan compare to a Cerb Al.? - I'd guess not as quick out & out straight line, but quicker on the twisties?

I think Robertjp is compiling data for some form of what TVR database. A couple of topics back he was asking about Chim v.s Tamora and then posted the same quaestion on the Tamora forum !.

Still while I'm here can anyone tell me how Strawberry ice-cream compares to Chocolate ice-cream ?

I'm outta here to post on the Vanilla forum.

Ciao

I think in all honesty the Cerbie, and I think I would run out of balls before I ever found out!

So it's probably the Tuscan next. To be fair to RJP though his first post - on the Chim forum did bravely say:

I always wanted a Cerbera, however I just cant live with the £3-4k annual costs to keep them roadworthy. So, this leaves two - Chimaera of Tamora.

I've tried this a couple of times with a couple different 4.5 Cerberas.
Off the mark there's nothing in it, once you get into third the 5.0 runs out of revs before the Cerb so you can be changing gear and the Cerb is still pulling like a train and so on through the box.

Side by side and floor it the 5.0 has a slight advantage due to the massive torque but then you get into rev capacity once again and the buggers are off!

Exactly right, did a side by side run on, well, a private runway a while ago and the 5.0 is with it till the cerbie gets up the rev range, 5.0 chim will pull a bit back when the cerb changes gear but the cerbie will always win until the driver runs out of balls

One thing that puzzles me, (I have owned a 4.5 Cerb, 5.0 Griff and a RR Tuscan) if the cerb has around 350bhp, and the Tuscan has a genuine 400 BHP how can the cerb be faster? is it just down to torque.

Correct.

Faster but needs to be thrashed to the edge of its life to get the grunt. Most Rover owners don't realise this and come back with the it isn't much faster or not as quick as my Chim/Griff etc.
Superior brakes and handling. No make that far superior brakes and handling.

Downside is 2 to 3 times running costs as everything is more expensive.

Hi There,

After having owned a 450LW Cerby and loved it, I would say that the Cerby would win hands down, unless there was a real numpty at the wheel! Have seen a few believe me!!
BUT, as I now have a Chim which I also think is fantastic who cares?
They are both TVR, they are both great fun to drive/own and they will both 'see off' most cars on the road today......'Nuff said!

I'll have to give you some figure if I ever get them for mine.

Cerb would beat 500 if you could be arse to chase the revs in Cerb - but like someone said at the speeds where it is getting nuts on the road not a huge amount in it - but when you decide to REALLY get going CERB every time.

The Cerbera looks like it is doing 100mph standing still. The Chimaera doesn't.
