IIRC there was something about the new chassis, at the very least I'd be asking why it had one. Was it owned by someone who liked a bit of a race and did all his own servicing? Maybe in Yorkshire? It was up for sale for ages the last time. Someone will be along with all the information though

Ah interesting - thanks Ray. Yeah there's nothing about regular servicing in the advert either.......

Lots of info if you google it, including a youtube vid from when it has been advertised before and posts on here from when it was advertised for 30k.

Someone in the west yorks tvrcc might know more, I've got Keighley in mind for a previous owner for some reason.

It was on the Car & Classic website for ages too if I remember correctly. There was a youtube video of it being driven too, it was 6 years ago!

A new V5c was issued on 28th May 2021. Could have been lost, but likely a private owner now.

Thanks Sixor - yes I've been scouring all the main websites for the last few months and it's the first time this one has appeared.

After looking at this video, it linked to this one - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E10HZQR1g2k - which I initially thought was the same car confused
(very similar reg plate).

HHC car .. interesting (well to me anyway) story on that car was it was a 4 litre in a nice spec, which went back to the factory to have a 5 litre engine fitted for the top gear piece. Not sure if it stayed a 5 litre then or went back to a 4 litre though.

Bump, it's up for sale on eBay. Registration different but the same car. The days of £25k to £30k seem gone, asking £14k.

I reckon the drop is Chim prices closely correlates with me buying one.

They've likely never been cheaper.

I bought a 75k ish mileage W reg 400 in silver in Nov 2013 for £6950, possibly just after the bottom. scratchchin Using an inflation calculator, that would be £11,600 now, so relatively, they are quite cheap.

Nice car for someone, wonder how its looking underneath.
Looked very nice in that video some years ago, pity its now got a bit of a reputation.

I was wondering the same thing about it’s underneath. What’s the issue with its reputation. The reason I ask is a friend has contacted me with interest in this car, I mentioned I have no idea but overall it looks good but as we all know that doesn’t mean much without inspecting the underneath very closely.

At some point the 5.0 must have been rebuilt to get to 5.2. I don’t suppose you know what was done or who did it do you Belle?
Cheers in advance.

V8 Developments engine build, if you read the thread ray von posted most is explained there although it does get a bit heated!

Thanks Belle, I managed to get through two pages before giving up.
Hmmm.
If it’s got the mods suggested by the original seller on the thread posted by Ray von then not a bad car but more years have passed and you never know.
My advice is to disregard all comments or mods until the chassis has been fully inspected by someone who knows exactly where to be looking and for me the colour combination doesn’t bode well for future resale but then that’s just my opinion.

On that thread by Ray von there’s some discussion as to different paint colour on the doors but I actually agree what someone else suggests as my old car was fully re painted by Central TVR and that too often looked like the doors were slightly different depending on the angle pictures were taken from but on other occasions you could clearly see it matched perfectly. I also know the car including doors boot and bonnet which were all removed before painting were painted at the same time as the rest of the car. think some colours might exhibit this trait more than others.
Blar blar blar.
In typical TVR fashion that thread shows how different people see different values etc but until you view and just as importantly drive a car you never really know how good it is.
I often drove other Tvr cars and most of my friends cars drove great but then they were well maintained and updated as required as others felt st compared to mine and really almost like a different car.
It’s often said no two hand built cars will feel exactly the same but some definitely feel better than others. Take each one as you see it. I think that’s why values are often quite different based on just how good it drives/ reliability etc.
some great cars are priced to sell rather than hang around forever then others no better are priced on a general opinion rather than just how good it really is.
As we all know, condition condition condition.
Overall if this car has paint as good as it suggests and the engine/ mechanicals are spot on then someone will get a good car because all those things are very costly to put right/ maintain but if its been stood for many years I’d be suspicious as to how reliable it will be until it’s covered some miles and you have gotton to the bottom of any niggles which occur through leaving standing.
