HT leads - like for like replacement

Good morning all,

Does anyone know where I can get a like for like set of HT leads for my chim? They have the ceramic 45 degree end on, hopefully see the image attached if it’s worked.

I can only find these that I think will fit but have rubber ends so not to sure if that would then require the heat shield boots?

I have an electronic coil pack with the ECU upgrade that came with the car so any advice would be welcome on what to do.

I don’t necessarily think they’re broken but it’s been running abit rough at idle and rich and I don’t think they’ve been changed since the ECU was installed around 2017 so I think it’s probably worth doing to keep it in good stead.

I have the same ones (Mr Retro Leads) on mine but I've put heat socks, I don't know if it's necessary or not, but I prefer not to take the risk for what it costs.
They are working fine.

The ceramic ones are made by Accel and are available from various suppliers, not cheap though. Most stick to the type you listed but its personal preference really.
There are a lot of threads regarding plug leads and heat socks etc here, I quite like the ceramic ones as it kind of eliminates the problem but some say left too long with out removal they can seize on the plug, so just something to bear in mind.
Maybe a bit of silicone grease would help every now and again but its likely to just burn off.

I got lucky and found a set of the ceramic Accel leads, or copies on Aliexpress for £36 The seller I bought from hasn't got them listed any more and this is the only similar set I can find , Much less attractive at £80. I bought a crimp tool and made them up to fit, all was going well until I tried fitting them to plugs 7 and 8, the 2 I always have trouble with as my manifolds are oversized and prevented fitting the ceramic end over the plug. They may fit ok on a standard set of manifolds. I should check with someone next time we have a meetup.

There are others listed with 90 degree ends and shorter ones for with coil packs

Glad you mentioned that one regarding the getting stuck last time this came up I was going to explain why many struggle (but got sidetracked or forgot) US stuff this is intended for so I've put this up they are yank leads obviously and yank V8 iron Chevy/Ford/Mopar etc tend to use small bodied /16mm plugs rather than the bigger RV8 and a lot of UK stuff from that era Ford/GM etc 18mm body in the pic you can see the issue , ive used small bodied SP's for years with Yank leads just because I can and gives more access/room around the SP tunnels and more plug choice , hope this helps tea break over for me now

My angled ceramic Pertronix leads needed replacing, when I found out they were £200 for a set I bought some grey rubber angled ones from John Craddock that do just as good a job for £16.

Which source is the correct one, ie which Land Rover? I've discovered not all Rover V8 HT lead sets are the same.

I've ended up with a set for the GEMS system where the lead numbers are not the same lengths and leads 4,6 and 8 have the straight connectors at the distributor cap end, not 1,3 and 5. I could switch them about but the number tags would all be wrong. The grey ones on their website seem to be these.

I had that with these, 3 and 8 needed swapping around due to length, the rest were correct and all boots were angled.

You could buy the stuff and make them yourself its very easy, you will have spare stuff to hand then if you get a failure. Obviously buy a few more spare ends and some extra cable at the start.
