how easy is to change back badge?
Discussion
Ok so ive got new sexy leven gold enamelled badges done the front no problem but the back on quick inspection looks a little bit tougher is it just a case of lifting up boot seal rubber and pulling back glued carpet hoping it doesn't strech or rip or is there a secret method i should now about, just dont want boot to look a mess but badges are the dogs under carraige.
Tony,
Its a piece of cake (or badge in this case!). Carefully peel back the carpet on the lefthand side of the boot, this will reveal 2 holes.
You'll need a steady hand and a socket set. The badge is held on with nuts (can't remmember offhand what size they are). Loosening the nuts is easy, the tricky part is carefully pulling the socket set away with the nuts still in the socket. You'll need a real steady hand or your'll drop the nuts down between the 2 skins of the boot (that will really piss you off - been there!).
Once that part is done, just carefully pull the badge away from the outside of the boot, you might lift some paint off.
Good luck.
Oh, and they do look the dogs dangly bits!!

There's a special trick to make sure that when you remove the socket, the nut comes with it. Unfortunately, I can't remember what it is.
I would wrap a single layer of insulating tape around the nut and then it should jam itself in the socket. Use a screwdriver to remove it again.

Everything that has been said about fitting our badges is correct.
The clean trick to hold the nut is the socket 'Blue Tack' or many mechanics use chewing gum!
One thing to remenber when fitting the new badges is not to over tighten espicially if using a socket. This tends to pull the stud off the badge or start it delaminating. Both resuilt in a scrap badge.
If anyone would like more information on badges and how to change them please call us direct.

If you can get insulating tape on the nut, then why not loosen it and take it off with your fingers!![]()
Or am I missing something?

Clever use of needle-nose pliers and much insulating tape stuck to your arm, the pliers, the bottom of your trainers, etc from previous attempts.
