A tube fell from the driver's footwell recently. I didn't spot it until my legs with washer fluid when I pulled the window washer lever to clean the window. Does anyone know how I can connect the tube back to the wipers, or should I now use it as part of a new in-car urinal system?

Do I need to remove the dash to re-fit it (if so how?) or is there access from the engine bay or underneath? Please help!

Remove dash. Cut hole in bulkhead to get access if necessary or remove panel. Refit. Make cover plate to hide hole. Refit dash.

Might want to get someone else to do it, especially if it under any sort of warrenty.

Look on the brightside... just think how much damage you could have done if the pipe had stayed behind the dash and the water had shorted out the whole electrics!

Might be worth looking to see if the pipe is in two pieces and the other end is still free.

Had a problem with my Griff where the washer tube fell off the inside of those nasty bulkhead fittings just before the tube attaches to the wiper arm.

Saved by that nice Mr Venn at Exactly-TVR in Coventry, who was able to recover the situation without resorting to taking the dashboard out and cutting holes. Worth a ring and a chat 'cos he knows a lot about TVRs and I won't go anywhere else. His service is second to none. (07956 956042 by the way)

Hope this helps,

If you find out how to do this, please post it as this seems a relatively common problem with Griffiths & Chimaeras, with most/all having to take the dash out to fix....
(Digital pics would be cool too if there is anything to photograph)

cheers,
Craig

That means drilling out the rivets that hold the wiper grill in place and getting access that way. Again not pleasant. Not recommended on the later cars either cos they changed the arrangements and the recommended method is in through the bulkhead.

I would grovel in the footwell and see what you can see. I don't recall the pipe having to be inside the car at all as the pump is in the engine bay. That means either TVR have chnaged things or your car has been modded. If the pipe has fallen free inside the car, then either there is a bulkhead fitting somewhere or a hole for the tube to go through. Is the tube still attached to where the it goes through the grill?

As for taking the dash out, it's, covered in the bible or search for the archives. Just be aware that dash removal is tricky and get it wrong and you can damage the veneer and/or leather surround.

Thanks Steve - I was thinking of trying to get in 'from above' - through the perforated grill, but won't now... My Griff has had a front ender, so the pipe must have been re-routed I guess. I wondered why the pipe was routed through the driver's footwell as it does seem a bit daft. There's a small hole in the upper left of the driver's footwell where the pipe should connect through to the wipers.

I think this is a job for my dealer as the car does still have warranty. I (stupidly) thought this sort of stuff might be easy. Seeing as I've been having so many little electrical gremlins and I'm into electronics, I will have to know how to take the dash out at some point.

Does your Griff book cover i) dash removal and ii) circuit diagrams of the electronics?
