I have emailed Keri & PM'd him off here but to no avail!

Thanks

I binned mine for AP, but a similar 4 pot brembo upgrade are a close par.

Yep i'm looking at Brembo option, just need to see if they will fit under a set of 16" split rims!

Seems like Keri has not been about for 18 months!

I'm playing mechanics tomorrow, will have my wheels off the car and I have the Brembo brake upgrade with 324 mm focus discs smile

I could take a measurement out from the centre of the hub to the outer most part of the caliper if that would help wink

Great brakes by the way. thumbup

Those brakes will need a try out, how about joining the Marlow Group at Snetterton on the 26th September?

I'm supposed to be doing Hethel around that time but even that's looking unlikely frown
I'd love to thumbup

I do need to try them again on track as I've cured vibration by just wearing them in and they are now consistently outstanding on the roads,
But only a track would work them hard enough to really find out. Hmm!

If you want to join us we have a 10% discount arranged you just need to call to book as a member of the Marlow group.

Would be great to have a few more TVR's along at the moment I am the only one with just about everything else being German.

Anyone able to post up the weight of one of these 324mm Focus discs? That's a big slab of iron!

I haven't got a decent set of scales,
The Brembo calipers are a lot lighter than the originals but the bracket is heavy and the discs are slightly heavier than standard,
At a guess I'd say there's not a lot of difference overall.
Going by how the car drives, I can't feel much difference,
other than the brakes work very well.

I haven't got enough time available right now to remove caliper and bracket but this is an important point ( un sprung weight) I will make an effort to weigh them at some point.

I do believe the Brembo set up is very slightly heavier going by bounce over bumps, I have twin adjust shocks so it's not an issue, as long as you have adjustable shocks one click up seems to dampen out any issues.
It's marginal at best, IMHO

The difference in brake performance across the board is as you'd expect from such high class calipers, puts the car into another league.

You're right Gary, they are quite a bit heavier but I can't tell you by how much as I didn't weigh them or the originals for that matter before fitting.

However, the Brembo calliper is a lot lighter than the standard cast iron mono-piston lump that came with the car as standard, while this offsets the heavier disc element to some degree I'd say overall the whole setup will still add in the region of 15-20% weight (but that is a complete guess).

To compensate I went up 2 clicks on my front Gaz Gold Pros, this proved too much as the ride became a little harsh and the front end was fractionally more skittish on rough surfaces.

Yesterday I backed them off one click, so I'm now effectively one click up on where I was with the standard brakes, so far after a spirited drive and some slow speed rough surface roads this setting seems spot on. The bottom line is while the Brembo conversion will add a bit of unsprung weight (which as we all know is less than ideal) the truth is you really don't notice it on the road with the right damper setting, all you notice is a massive improvement in the way the brakes perform and feel.

Two piece discs are available which will completely redress the weight issue (if you can call it an issue), but they are expensive. I may consider this in the future but for now I see little point as I'm still enjoying what is a fantastic upgrade for the right money.

You wouldn't have a pic of said bells and rotors would you smile

Here's mine after about 3500-4000 miles, wearing nicely now.
I have the same Brembo E38'road pads as Chimpongas thumbup

As a rough guide as I'd rather you measure your own brake set up!
From the centre of your hub out to the furthest outer part of the caliper is
175-6 mm
7 inches or 178 mm would clear the caliper but only by fractions so anything over 14 inch inner wheel should just do it but I'd suggest 14.5 inches as a safe bet.

Have not weighed my assembly but the calliper and bracket are all alloy and as light as a feather. Probably considerably less than the brembos

True, your bracket is billet alley if I'm right Rich. My bracket is heavier than the caliper just about!

Yes yes Reyland two piece 330s against the 283s that came off; and then behind 17inch wheel with AP Racing 4 pots - also put 300s of the same type on the rear with the stock calipers on brackets

Go on, someone weigh the Focus one piece manhole covers hehe

During my research i was interested in the weight and from what i could find out they were 8.1Kg's - i think that's each!!!
Also spoke to Reyland Motorsport about the weight saving of using their 2 piece discs and they said that the weight saving was minimal, maybe 1/2kg...

I used this template to see if the Brembo's would fit under the 16" splitrims but they don't so back to looking at 300mm options....
