Column is lose, without messing about with the wiring to take the entire column out is there a way to get the bearing off the end?

No not realy, its just as easy to remove the whole columm. takes 10mins, undo bolts holding columm through bulkhead, take cowls of behind steering wheel, undo two 13mm bolts holding columm to dash and then release wiring harness to stalks and igntion, easy its out. Did one a few months ago about £6 for the bearing from any bearing factor or even cheaper on ebay.

Thank you. Ended up taking the column out and then pulling the bearing off the column. I would say definitely the easiest way to get the bearing off. Bearing ordered along with the two UJ's. smile
