I have a 1995 serp 3.9L Chimaera.

I'm looking to change my big end (RTC2117) bearings, mains (RTC1718) bearings (standard sizes), oil pump (OPK003/DA4189) and water pump (STC488).

What are people's opinions on manufacturers to go for or avoid? e.g. King vs Glyco bearings. I believe the bearings should be steel backed. Is that correct?

Thanks.

I usually trust the supplier and use someone reputable like Turner engineering.
Real Steel are good too but didn't stock the Serp oil pump gears last time I needed parts.

What is the application of the engine?

Nothing strenuous, just as many miles as I can enjoy and maybe the odd track day if I feel brave. Not going to do anything crazy.

Glyco are used for all sorts of rover applications so would seem to be a good bearing. I know they've been used in a number of performance engines. They're a bit more expensive then some others.

Agree with above, also Clevite 77/Mahle are an HD bearing for a bit more scope speak to Realsteel or V8 Developments
