5.0 Chimaera has been fine since buying in December but today it started to go funny. Ice detector light started going haywire - various colours and no change in temp and it's nowhere near cold at the moment. Can anyone help.
Worse though, I am driving along and alarm siren sounds for a second or so and then stops. I drive 10 mins more and it is fine until I park up and it starts going intermitantly. I hadn't even locked it up! Doors were open but it still kept going. The siren was sounding for anything between a split second and 30 secs - until the battery lost enough power to stop it. This is a bit worrying and hard to fathom. Can anyone help?

Check to see if the siren is getting wet as this tends to set them off.If it is,turn it so as its facing downward, this stops the water from collecting and causing the short.

As for the ice detector..havent got a clue

The ice detector is probbaly caused by the sensor dying or its contacts going duff.

Meta alarm by any chance?

Best advice I can give is to lob it into the nearest river and replace it with something decent.

I'm told by other Tiv owners that Autowatch alarms are the dogs danglies (about £450 fitted).

I agree with Shpub about the ice detector - proabably wet sensor contacts which need cleaning.

I got a Clifford Concept 300 fitted the other week (insurance made me!!) for £400 from Premier Alarms in Northampton. They've worked on Chimaeras loads before and seem to know their stuff. Had the boot hooked up to the system too (so the relese is now on the remote) and it came with a radar proximity sensor which is better than microwave sensors. Alarm goes off if it senses anarm or something inside the car even with the top off.
