Where the inside square velco flap on the side of the Chimaera hood attaches, mine has a hole big enough to poke my finger though! This surely can't be good for waterproofing (it's at the top of a long list of holes to plug up!!)
So whats the best way of fixing this? Should I just get my mum to sew on a patch ( or maybe she could darn it?!?!) and smother it in Thompsons, or is the best route spend a packet and get it done properly?

I think sewing through, even with a healthy dose of Thompsons, is going to create a path of least resistance for the water running down the fabric. I think I'd get an opinion from a ragtop specialist - I'm sure there must be a "trade" fix rather than having a new hood.

Seemed quite reasonable to me.
Hi tony, the rest of the hood is in really good nick though, think I might have a temporary patch sewn over it till I can afford to get it done professionally. Theres a few other more pressing thing the cars waiting for at to mo!!

What I'd do is either leave it (I didn't find it a problem, funnily enough) or buy a sticky patch from a haberdashery shop and cover it that way if it bothers you. I did that at first, had occasion to take it off, forgot to replace it and, since the surrounding fabric was heavily Watersealed, water ran away from it (almost physically repelled!).
Cheers Manek
Thing is at the moment there's alot of water getting into the car somehow, and I'm trying to eliminate everything slowly. The passenger footwell, and behind both seats are often waterlogged, need to get it on a ramp and seal the bolts underneath too.
So are you gonna make it to VW tomorrow?? I'm just about to go downstairs and give to car the polishing of a lifetime!! Oh how the nightshifts fly by!!
