Hi - I have a '94 Chimaera and the boot lid will often not shut. The usual fix is to press one knee just above the rear numberplate whilst shutting, although this does not always work. Sun also seems to make the situation worse.
Any thoughts?

Adjust the part which goes into the lock mechanism a little. they can move with time and repeated shutting
Have a look at the mounting bolts that bolt into the bootlid near the filler cap and on the other side. i have noticed on mine that the head of one of these bolts has clearly hit the main bodywork in the past - appears very little clearance. in this case it is on the side of the filler cap, someone has replaced it with a bolt which is flush with the surface of the boot hinge. Prior to this the head was fouling causing the lid to twist when trying to shut it.
Hi - could it be the rubber trim that surrounds the boot (which has an odd shape by the fuel cap)? Parts of this are pretty loose and have to be re-attached regularly. The part which goes into the lock mechanism seems to contact the lock dead centre.

Most likely to be the solenoid sticking and not returning correctly!!, If you peel back the carpet to the right of it you will see it, just pull the cable slightly and it should free it up!!
cheers
