4.3 Backfires

My Chimeara 4.3 occasionally backfires if restarted within 30 mins of previous run and also sometimes during a drive. Is this a common problem with this engine? Any ideas to resolve problem?

Can't really add much other than to say my 4.3 never does this. One of the more technical boys / girls can probably offer a suggeation as to what is happening with your engine. Bye

Midge - do you really mean backfire? That would almost certainly destroy the effectiveness of the calatysts. I think you may have a problem..........?

My 4.3 had a misfire in the mornings, traced it to a crack in the dizzy cap.....might be worth a look.

My Griff 500 pops and crackles on the overrun if i "tickle" the throttle. The most annoying thing is that it comes and goes just like Midge, most annoying as i like it!
