Battery.....or Alternator?

Hi all,
My car (96 4L) has decided to not start if i leave it over night. Jump leads get it going fine but it's a bit of a pain now. It could be the battery, or the alternator might not be charging the baterry properly? - any ideas on how to cheak to see what one it is?
