may be about to get a chim!
have checked prices and think the one im looking at is competative enough...any thoughts?
its a 97P (door openers on mirrors but old style rear lights) 4.5l, 29k from a speaclist who comes highly recommeded for £17,500.
i have spoken with the 1 previous owner (via the log book) and he says the car had been fine and had no significant problems- as did the servicing garage that last saw in a few weeks ago for its service.
finally- if a 24month warrenty (max claim 1k) is £400 is it worth it or do the warrenties rarley cover the probs i may get with it?
cheers folks

With TVR's the price definately comes down to the condition opposed to the age. 17,500 seems quite expensive for a P but if it has been well looked after and in excellent condition then there is no reason why it is not worth that!!
As for the warranty then yes it probably is worth having one, but make sure you know exactly what it does and does not cover!! If you are getting it from a specialist I would expect the warranty to be included not extra. Might be worth saying that to them!!
cheers

Hi tiggsy, prices seem to vary a lot at the moment.
I was up at Fernies yesterday, and while they were sorting my hot start problem I had a nose in the showroom.
There was a P reg 450 in there 27K, at just under 20K! and an R reg (No ODO) at 19K!
Have a look for yourself, the first six adds are Trade adds of Fernhurst’s.

I would personally go for an R Reg with perhaps a few more miles. I also think the PAS was changed on the R and it's feels A LOT firmer.
I think in the end it's a matter of “you pay's your money and you takes your choice".
BTW definitely make sure the warranty was in place whoever pays for it!
Hope this helps.

cheers guys- now bought- some arrety was included but i paid extra to extend it to 2 yrs.
dealer also has agrred to give it an MOT (just been serviced so should be ok), refurbish the alloys and 12 months tax- i'm happy enough with that- he also had a another bloke looking at it that he had to turn away as i'd just paid a deposit so all good signs.
