Any female chim drivers out there?
Discussion
I'm thinking of buying a 4.0 Chimera within the next few weeks and all the posts on this forum have been invaluable!
I only have one question left....how many chim owners/drivers are ladies?? What are your ownership experiences?
Cheers
KJ
Well I'm not a girl - but my Mrs is. The Chimaera is hers and she drives it every day.
Go for it. And tell anyone who gives you that "its not a ladies' car" bullshit to stuff off - they know nothing. My GLW isn't the strongest of all women but has no problems with the steering or gear shift - although all of them are "heavy".
You'll be used to it in a week...and be hungry for more power.
Again: Go for it!
Kate,
I’d say go for it too. Now on my second TVR and I’ve had no problems at all as a lady driver; I use a 4.5 as an everyday car and love it. You’ll get the odd flippant remark and boy racers trying to prove a point but generally I experience the complete opposite with only positive comments.
Let us know how you get on.

I agree with Alison's comments (Hi, Alison!) - I got my 450 after my sister took me to France in her first Chimaera 4.0 and I got hooked! She is now on her second, and I've been driving mine and grinning for almost three years (on May 27th, not that I'm counting...
). You'll love it.
). You'll love it.I had a 4.0 Chimaera and now have a Griff 500.
Anyone who tells you it's not suitable for a woman is lying, and probably has their own self esteem problems
Ownership experiences have been pretty positive. Because it's an enthusiast's car, people who talk to you tend to address you as a fellow enthusiast, rather than a 'bird in a sports car'. Experiences in buying (trying to buy) the cars in the first place however were another matter entirely - a catalogue of being patronised, ignored, attempts to talk me into having something 'more suitable', bullying negotiation tactics, and the ubiquitous 'they all do that madam/love'. I've been promising myself I'd write a piece for Sprint on the my experiences - if any other ladies have any feedback on this, please mail me through my profile.
On the positive side, I found two or three people who were fantastic to deal with, and who I'd recommend any day.

They were REALLY that bad! Jeez... as for the Sprint issue, I think that would make for VERY interesting reading.Had my Chim 500 since last August - love it ! Just had the sports exhaust done - fantastic burble now !
Not got PAS and wouldn't have it. The (minor)difficulties parking etc are far outweighed by the great feel at high speed. Agree the handbrake has sometimes caused me grief but usually cos the other half has applied it too firmly when he's "borrowed" it.
Fab car - go for it ! All the guys at work love talking about it and having a peek under the bonnet.
Now there are a few ladies out there - maybe a pink convoy could be in order ?

Yep, fraid so mate - my wife can tell you a couple of stories from supposed main dealers too.... somewhat embarrasing, and strangely bought a car from the specialist that took the time out to look after us both and treated us both with respect.... and chances are he will get repeat business too.... Can supply names upon request via email...
Cheers,
Paul

Stunning. Can't believe there are so many idiots out there.. you'd think they'd understand thay they are there to SELL the cars...

It is great to hear that there are female TVR owners out there...all my male friends have been trying to put me off buying one...just jealous I guess

The best bit IMHO!!
Good luck! Hope you get your dream car soon.
Edited to add: Re. dealers. I've not really had a problem with them trying to patronise me - unlike the average car showroom, where I was frequently offered cars because they matched my outfit or because they had really good radios in them.
The only slightly negative thing any TVR dealer has said to me was the time I was asked if I really thought I could drive a TVR because I'm not exactly Mrs Tall... >> Edited by SGirl on Monday 14th April 15:39
