My Chimaera has just failed its first MOT for having a badly frayed seatbelt all along one edge where it has rubbed on the inertia reel (it's a fair cop guvner).

Can anyone tell me the source of the seatbelt (Rover/Ford ???) or is it a TVR specific part? Better still, does anyone know of a recent 'write-off' donor car lurking at a dealership or garage???

The replacements supplied to me by TVR are from IMMI model AC3-001 and the application list shows they fit many similarly exotic types of car, including Mk1 Cavalier. They were just over £45 each from TVR and I was quoted £43 from a normally cheap motor parts supplier, so might as well get the prettier receipt if you ask me.

Cheers
Andy

Seat belts are a safety issue and could be the only thing between you and decapitation.... don't skimp. It is only a tankful of fuel after all!

Thanks for the replies. I agree entirely Steve - a brand new replacement part has been ordered.

The 'fraying' problem would also appear to be quite a common one. I commend you all to spend a couple of minutes pulling out the full length of each seatbelt and if necessary 're-aligning' the inertia reel to prevent future damage of the belt!
