There seems to be various messages regarding the prices of a Chimaera.
What would £14-15k buy ?

Additionally, servicing costs I heard are approx £600 for a minor and £800 for a mojor. Is this on the high side ?

On the high side, even for a main dealer!!

£15k would get you mine for starters

The service prices you've quoted sound like dealer territory. Much cheaper at an independent.

I think Mark's one is a bit more tempting but not going to be purchasing anything just yet !

So how much could I get servicing done for away from the main dealers but at a specialist ?

12k would buy a Starmist blue one with 44,000 miles on it I would guess

Most are around £250/£400 for minor/major from what I can remember. There tends to be a few other odds and sods that need doing which puts the price up a little each time.

Best bet is to take a look through the peoples profiles on here - lots have their maintenance history complete (including mine) which gives a good indication of what to expect.

So on that basis running a Chimaera is not that different from running a normal car if you work on the basis of perhaps 6,000 miles per year and acquire a "lucky" car.

These are the variables that I am concerned about. The two figures here are quite far apart !

Fear not.

An independant will do a good job for a fraction of that money, its just I use Dick Turpin TVR.

Phone TVR Power for a quote.. they want about £400 for 6k and £600 for 12k service for the Chim I think.. and as they did the engines in the first place they should do a reasonable job..

Is an independent still a "TVR" enterprise or are we talking a garage that deals with many differet cars ?

Are the only TVR places the dealerships which sell cars and also service on the side ?

There are numerous TVR specialists, a lot of which frquent this place. I dont know if they do other marques but generally speaking they were trained (I think) by TVR or a TVR dealer.

The main dealer network i.e. the ones that sell NEW TVR's also offer servicing and are your only choice whilst in warranty.

Unfortunately running a Tuscan for 15000 miles a year would prove somewhat expensive

Its another Chimaera for me.
