Handbrake ratchet

Hi all,
have noticed a few posts in the past regarding handbrakes sticking but here's a new one.
Was driving along happily thinking to myself that my TVR had been pretty well trouble free since I'd bought it...dangerous...pulled up at lights, applied handbrake...let go...and so did the handbrake!
The lever won't hold in place and wasn't making contact with the ratchet.
I've had the central console out before and hadn't realised that there was a removable panel (thanks to David Gerald TVR for advice here!) - frightening stuff taking out that much trim! - found that the handbrake ratchet was swinging freely on its mounting. I presume there's supposed to be a bolt in the rear hole that stops this, so have inserted one - now just need to get the trim back.
