Picked up my late 97 Green 450 yesterday- superb, as fast as i had hoped and sounds awsome!

(only niggle was that the bits the dealer said they'd get sorted where not all done- me thinks a chat on Tuesday is needed)

Aside from bits the dealer was sorting there are a few bits that i want to sort to make the car a bit better:

Rubber Seals- in a few places the rubber is cracking on has split open (around the door/across the top of the pop up rear roof section) I am using a rubber lube on these to stop it happening again- is that the thing to do? and what about thes split bits? superglue? (will the glue also work in fixing it back o the body work where needed?

Pedals- i have moved the pedals right back for extra leg room but only the clutch and brake adjust easy- the accelerator doesnt- could i take the pedal of and bend it in a vice? as it has no more adjustment left)

also the bolt on the back of the clutch now protrudes a long way out the back of the pedal (as ive wound it in all the way) this means the bolt touches the bulk head and prevents the clutch from going as far as it did before- however, it still travels enough to disengae the clutch- its just that as i lift of the cluth it now engages very early in its travel- could this cause a problem? or is the travel in the peddal beyond the point where it has disengaged not doing anything anyway?

Window- drivers side is a joke- takes about 40secs to raise or lower!!!!

Rear plastic- where it folds there are pinprick holes in the plastic- can i just put a blob of silicon on these? or is there something better?

Fast- really bloody fast but thats not a problem

Boot- where can i get a powerful gas strut? mine wont hold the boot lid unless its 95% opened- my passat's bonnet strut would lift the bonnet from 10% ajar!

finally!!!! the button under the steering coloum (opposite side to the boot release) whats that?

and silver knob near the wheel height lever- whats that?

Sorry for all the q's but im keen to get this thing minty!

Switches the instrument panel lights off. Quite cool at night, although watch your speed (the speedo light goes out, too) and the main beam light is *way* too bright.

Is it on the column? That's the wiper speed adjustment.

The button to the left of the boot release toggles the dash lights on/off - at least it does on my 98 chimp!

The accelerator is adjusted by moving the bracket holding the end of the cable. This bracket design changed between different model years, but you should be able to see it held in place by 2 or more bolts - undo these & slide bracket...

As to the rear plastic window - you may find that this is covered on your car insurance for windscreen replacement - another PistonHeader got theirs replaced this way.

For the window - get some silicone spray & spray it down the channels.

For the clutch - I'd be tempted to saw off the end of the bolt (or buy some Leven pedals)

Boot strut - you'll need to go to a TVR dealer

you can use something like neo-rez for the rubbers, which you can get from surf shops, watersports places.
it's usually used for wetsuits.

you might just be better off getting a new seal fitted, but neo-rez is pretty good.
