help non starter (part two)

with ref to my 97 chimp that i was told to remove from newtown motors,if you all remember they could do nothing more for me,with regard to starting the vehicle.
i arrived at the above on friday 21 march to take my car down to roath garage(thanks for the advice)took several photographs of the way my car had been stored it was absolutely filthy in and out,not to mention the rear seperation of the screen from the hood.
the tow truck arrived and off to roath we headed,i met peter the garage owner,he could not believe the condition of the car and after a chat i left him to it.
i recieved a call off peter on monday afternoon to tell me that the the car was running perfectly,as i was going away for a few weeks,i arranged to pick it up upon my return.
not to soon was the day of my return, and to pick up my car, then i asked peter what miracles he had performed to do that you know who couldnt, he replied the distributor cap had been replaced the wrong way around, the spark plugs had been set to double the normal gap,the earth strap was hanging off,and the h.t.leads were arcing everywhere,he corrected these and the car was running without any problems, and still is,i could not thank the guy enough and i duly left to go to newtown motors and tell them a few home truths, and didnt i feel good when i left there never to return.
the photographs, the report from roath garage, and a three page letter from myself with reference to these problems are on the way to blackpool.
thanks again everyone for all your help, and im sorry big al for the name and shame, but its got to come out.
ill be at the next meeting this thursday at the st julian, with the photographs so you ca see for yourselves, once again thank you all,and happy motoring.
cheers clive

Good to hear that the car is working well. I noticed you said that the distributor cap was on the wrong way round - aren't the same both ways around (i.e. they have one mirror plane) or have I got the wrong cap! The one I bought was from halfords, the same as a V8 land rover - should I be using a differnet one?
