Have been reading all your comments, can anyone comment on reviews which seem to imply tvr's are unreliable. I am looking to buy a chimaera 4.5 or 5.0L very soon
would appreciate comments

Big Al.

jesus! that FAQ would even scare me from getting a chimaera and i love mine!!! i suppose thats the problem with such a section... it will only list faults. anyway despite the odd little problem i can't complain about mine (cue sod's law ). Use it every day and love it.

I think the simple answer is that it depends on how you use it. I have the poor man’s model (2000 Chim 400), I use it 3/4 times a week it is garaged the rest of the time. I can tinker with it myself if the odd bit goes wrong but it is very much a car nut’s car. It will never be built like a Porsche and if you cannot accept that then it may not suit. Make no mistake even the economy model could not be described as a cheap car to run, the 450 and 500 cost and go bit more. Nothing major has gone wrong with mine in the time I have owned it and on a nice sunny day with the roof off there is nothing to touch it.

Good luck,

Ivan

Don't expect German (or Japanese) build quality but if your handy with a bit of superglue and a screwdriver they are not too bad.
