My car- update
Discussion
Thought that i would update everyone with the progress of my 95 Chim after ive owned it for about 3 months, and now that its finally running superbly.
I originally bought it fairly cheaply after it had been standing for about 18 months, unused/neglected by its previous owner, and set about getting it back on the road (where it belonged).
I started out by removing the old carpets and renewing the seat runners (as they had been sitting in water),installed a new battery then summoned up the courage to fire her up.I was amazed when it started with the first turn of the key.The sound of the engine was more than enough reward and justification for the purchase.
Next on the list was a new rear window and a complete retrim, then service to get it up and running and fit for the road,(not forgetting the MOT).
As soon as i picked it up, the clutch started to slip and the car was off the road again for a couple of weeks until it was replaced.
I drove it for a few days then the manifold gaskets started to leak making the V8 beast sound like a Spitfire taking off.
This was eventually fixed after several broken/snapped studs and a few worrying moments, new discs and pads were fitted all around and finally a recored radiator.
I can honestly say that the car is now performing and sounding like it was when it left the factory and it has been worth every penny thats been spent on it SO far. I know that its been said before, but it really does make me smile everytime i sit in it and i intend to use it most days.
All of this has undoubtadly been helped by the invaluable advice that ive received on here to the many questions that ive asked over the past 3 months.......and i guess what im trying to say is thanks!
Finally ive treated my Cureton Green Chim to a semi private index number(to me anyway) and if anyone sees M40APR on the road then give me a wave.
