My ancient laptop that I used with Rovergauge has died so have downloaded and installed on my Windows 11 laptop. I’m struggling to connect with the ecu and I think it is down to not naming a com port on my laptop.
Anyone able to give me some pointers?
Thanks

Thanks. The trouble is that Rovergauge doesn’t have anything pre-populated in the dropdown menu…

I can't remember the process I went through, though I do recall it being easy.
I don't mean to be rude, but have you got the cables connected correctly, ignition on with immobiliser disarmed?

I think you can just type in the port number into the box in RG, e.g. "COM1" etc.

Go to Device Manager on your computer, and down to Ports to see what's available or connected when you plug in the RG cable.

Or, just try different COM numbers and see what works.

I had the same issues getting rg working, in the end it was com1 and tried all USB ports of the laptop. Only one worked, since then it always works on that USB port. Just like tvr, trial and error

Still struggling…. Tried both usbs, com1 - com5 (no dropdown) all with the engine running and no joy. Any other ideas?
Thanks

Maybe ask the clever people here.

Failing that if you have facebook join the Rover V8 owners and enthusiasts group, its well worth using facebook just for the groups now, the TVR ones are excellent too and usually you will get a very quick response.

I've just installed Rover Gauge on my HP Spectre (with HP Travel Multi Port Hub & Banff) Windows 11 PC from GIT Hub using the Rovergauge supplied USB cable and works no problem.
Had to go into OPTIONS ..... SETTINGS and type com3 in the serial device name box and enable all readings and OK .... came up straight away.

COM3 in my case because COM3 appeared in device manager with the cable connected

COMMUNITIONS light on RG changed from RED to GREEN after CONNECT
