Handbrake problem on my Chim

It's stopped 'clicking' when I pull it up, and will not stay engaged. It still works and holds the car on a steep hill if I keep hold of it and the button moves freely in and out.

All problem solving advice appreciated.

Lift up the gaiter, and the rubber one underneath and spray liberally with WD40

With the gaiters lifted you may be able to see if the ratchet and pawl are engaging or why they aren't?
