Unknown connector?

My MAF wiring is protected inside a split cable protector, taped to the wiring protector just before the MAF is a white wire, which is turned back on itself and taped to the outside of the cable protector, tracking back to the ignition amplifier on the distributor.

My question is: just after it turns back towards the dizzy, there's a small black Lucas inline connector "block" - has anyone got any idea what it's function is?

Belle - spot on, that's what it is, but there appears to only be one on my car?

I unplugged the ends connecting to the resistor and noticed poor contact had been made, so cleaned them up and re- plugged it!

Could this have been contributing to my MSF failures I wonder?

Cheers for clearing up it's use anyway.
