New wing mirror assembly from Motaclan
Discussion
Just a heads up.
I’ve just watched a video from Motaclan showing there redesigned wing mirror stalks and how to firstly remove the old ones then replace with there rather good looking new ones.
As this effects many owners much respect must go out to Motaclan for doing this mod and helping to remove the fear many must have with regard to wing mirror failures.
Some good news for once

Their design of the base part (screwed in the door), looks like the one done by Griffo400 here https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
But their tripod looks nice. I've bought an original one from Motaclan few months ago, if I knew I would have waited the new design.

Yep. The tripod is stainless and painted black so should last a long time But their tripod looks nice. I've bought an original one from Motaclan few months ago, if I knew I would have waited the new design.

Do you have a link to this video please?
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/jbzRbTskw6YREH94/It's a good idea, though the designer in me says it could go a little further in finish - maybe with a sleeve or similar to cover the gap and grub screw.
But I agree, respect is due for Motaclan for trying to sort an irritating problem, and potentially saving us having to replace the whole mirror unit for Corrado or TT or whatever, with adaptors and respray required.
It would be great to see it in the flesh.
I've done a blog writeup of fitting the Motoclan mirror mod.
Not sure if I'm allowed to link to my blog from here so Mods please remove if not.
My blog link is in my bio.

Great blog instructions. I'm trying these steps but can you please explain exactly where you put the small screwdriver to remove each of the 5 wires, to depress the holding tag?
Also, the Motaclan instructions say to tease up the black collar. I can't for the life of me see how this could be done. Has anyone managed this?
Understood you cut the collar PaulH69. I guess with my level of skill I'd consider this a last resort as I can imagine that going wrong ...
Cheers.

I took the mirrors off my Griff myself for paintwork, They are standard.
You can't access the allen key lifting the black collar unless the extension adaptor as featured is fitted. But it can be lifted high enough to get a slim punch or screwdriver in there for slackening off and re-tightening the mirrors on refitting. Well I could on mine.

Thanks sixor8. Yes I just can't see how to lift up the collar. It doesn't seem to want to go up into the mirror. Is there a knack to moving it?
With the 5 wires in the connectot, if anyone has any advice on how to remove one of them, in terms of pushing down the holding tag, that woukd be v helpful.
The instructions make it all look fairly straightforward. Appreciate that's wishful thinking! ...
