Melbourne Raceway revival success
Discussion
Considering the weekend just gone clashed with one of the most popular events at Santa Pod, was only 1/8th mile single lane and was only announced a few weeks ago the weekend back at York was very much a success.
The turnout was fantastic with over 100 cars and bikes of all types taking to the track.
Trevor Duckworth and the Straightliners team brought a grandstand, barriers, portaloos etc and made the event run like clockwork.
Everyone there had a smile on their face all weekend.
Even my Chimaera played ball (apart from the clutch arm falling apart at one point) and I just got faster with every run ending up with a 7.65 at 98mph to be the 14th fastest out of all over the weekend. I am also proud to have been the first car on the track both days!
The plan is to lay a proper surface for 2 1/8th mile racing lanes come Spring, then to tarmac the whole of the pits, finish off what is already a much improved entry road then at a later date increase the track back to a full quarter mile racing.
Still buzzing!
