Whirring noise ?
Discussion
Took car for a drive tonight and all ok and after about 1 hour of driving pulled away from the lights a little enthusiastically and then could hear a constant “whirring” noise like a bearing pushed clutch in (whilst moving ) and it went back off clutch came back constant with engine speed
So this I would say Clutch release bearing ? But thought I’d ask the experts on here just in case ?
Clutch was replaced about 20K a go
Engine / Diff / Gearbox oil all replaced about 2 weeks ago

I would expect a dead release bearing to get noisier under load (i.e. clutch in)...
did you replace the gearbox fluid with a different type or like for like replacement?
A whirring noise to me suggests gear mesh noise, but that's a bit of a wild ass guess.
The only other thing I can think of is perhaps the bearing might be rattling on the input shaft nose, and loading it up with the pedal stops the rattling?

Yes I used the correct “Mineral ATF Dexron 11D fluid and it was same that came out (red fluid)
Will need to drive it again to see if it’s still doing it ? Cold or warm but this was when it was warm/hot driving along slight whirring noise like bearing then dip clutch goes straight away !

What a clutch after 20K miles ?
I did think I could smell clutch the other day going up a ramp but that was in car park full of cars at a car show so thought it may be car in front never smelt it again
My Clutch fluid is also fully topped up !
A clutch can last 40,000 miles, just depends on how hard a life it’s had. I did think I could smell clutch the other day going up a ramp but that was in car park full of cars at a car show so thought it may be car in front never smelt it again

I’ve had one last about a year but then I went drag stripping it with rather competitive Tvr mates

I’m easy on the clutch with only really the odd spirited take off !
Well Update !!!!! Took it out tonight and the noise ???? Not present normal service has resumed?!?!?
Drove it for over an hour and lots of up and down the box traffic lights etc and no noise like I had last night ? Must only happen on wed nights !
Have to say box feels so much better on shifting since new oil !

on a ramp you can pull the rubber inspection hatch out and take a look.
