Happy new year to all.
How many of you guys bother with premium fuels?
I used to make a habit of driving past a Tesco to put their momentum 99 in and just wondered how many of you don’t bother and stick to 95.
I can’t help thinking the turnover of premium fuels must be low due to its price so who knows what quality is in their tank.
I use it mainly for its claimed cleaning properties rather than the performance gain, I can’t say I notice a big difference on premium stuff though.
I have an Esso, Texaco, Asda and Sainsbury’s within a mile of me, all are quite busy stations.

Hi, I filled up with Esso Supreme when I tucked the Griff up for winter, still Ethanol free in the NW according to their info. Otherwise I have used Shell premium for its claimed cleaning properties - I remember an independent test from years ago that did back up their claim!

Nope, wouldn't use premium fuel just for its claimed cleaning properties. Ran my 4.0 on normal unleaded for many years with no issues.

I think its more important your engine is in a good state of tune and serviced properly.

If your car has been tuned to run 99 using 95 there’s a risk of pinking at higher revs.
So the rule of thumb should be 95 is ok to use around town and cruising, any power runs need 99.

An high CR (modified) RV8 craves high octane or your just retarding timing to use regular and hence missing the point of jacking up the CR in the 1st place rolleyes just for clarity

V-power all the way, my 430 shunts a lot less & feels more responsive than on anything else.
