Toad Immobiliser issues
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm trying to improve the shunting issues so went out for a drive through town today with stepper motor disconnected (when hot) and the shunting seems a trifle better. Good news!
Went to start it after stalling it whilst parking, trying to reverse it up a steep wet lawn without spinning the rears, so forgive me, and tried to start it and it was having none of it. Bad news!
The fuel pump primes but it wont turn over, the red LED on the steering column does not seem to be on?
This has the symptoms of the usual hot start problem, but wondering if it could be an immobiliser issue, I have just been out to the car again and it started on the button.
The car is a 94 HC, was the Toad immobiliser a standard fitment? does anyone have a wiring diagram/installation instructions as removing it from the car would prove the issue.
Many thanks in advance.
Frank

I don’t believe toad were ever standard fitment but they are one of the more reliable systems.
You will probably need to find the model number to get a diagram, toad seem to be one of the easier ones to find online, just google toad ai606 wiring diagrams as an example.
The brain of the system should be fairly easy to find in the car.

I doubt you'll find wiring details online for an immobiliser, for obvious reasons! If you want a standard TVR Meta one, these chaps can help:

Hi i Have a toad alarm. recent addition last year to replace faulty meta unit. My alarm cam with a credit card size sheet containing an alarm bypass 4 digit number. This when entered disables the alarm and immobiliser. My alarm has a 4 button fob model AI606 i have a full set of wiring diagrams for it. You would need to PM me some proof of ownership before i could send them to you.
Hi all, and thanks for your advice.
My immobiliser is the simple dongle type, I am now convinced its not the actual immobiliser causing the non startproblem but the standard hot start issue.
I am not, at this point, going to attempt to remove it, but thanks for your offers of help with the wiring.
Another more urgent problem needs dealing with, while test driving it with the vac advance disconnected and timing slightly backed off to see if it helps with the shunting the clutch master cylinder gave up the ghost, nice!
The shunting did seem slightly better but perhaps at the cost of a little oomph.
Has anyone seen an improvement in shunting by taking the carbon canister out of the system?
Cheers

Hi Belle,
I T'ed into the fuel regulator vacuum last year, no real difference, so re visiting the problem really.
The clutch is now being a nuisance, changed to master cylinder, had a pedal then no pedal, bled the system again, now the pushrod has dropped out of the master cylinder. Once I have stopped fuming I will see if I can get it back in and get the circlip in without having to remove the master cylinder again.
Loosing the love at the mo!
