Hi guys,

Is it be possible that the immobiliser slot below the stalk could of never been wired?

I have had all the loom behind dash out and can’t see where it could possible connect.

I do have the key fob with button - could this of been it at all? Sounds strange but I’m at a complete loss!

If your car has an immobiliser other than the original Meta then there would be no need for the dongle socket.

ThNks for your response. My car was stood standing in a field for 10 years before I got it as a project. So I can’t see it having anything other than standard but I just can’t see where this cable goes!

im just in the process of renewing the meta alarm on my late 94 and that had no immobiliser slot or any other box than the meta box itself, mine also has just the fob so highly possible yours never had it either

On my last Chimaera, I refurbished the dash and noticed that the wiring from the Meta column slot was connected to an inline plug behind the instruments, approx behind the fuel guage. This connection then ran to the immobiliser unit at the left hand end under the dashboard.

It will make no difference to the operation of the car if the central locking and immobiliser are still operating normally, it is redundant really. It is there as an override to the Meta system if the central locking system and immobiliser become de-synchronised, for example if (as a skinflint like me), you change only the Meta immobiliser box on its own.

Or if you have waited too long to put turn the ignition on, putting the fob in the slot will give you another period.
