I need to replace my wing mirrors as the old ones are fubar. Is the going rate for two wing mirrors approaching £1000.00!? (£389 x 2 + VAT from Racetech)

Can anyone point me in the direction of something more palatable please?

Thanks in advance
Cad

Trying make make up for this trying post I started looking around. Blimey they are expensive! Does yours have the button underneath?

This topic covers owners experiences of a very reasonably priced repair kit

Sorry again. I should have been more specific. The old ones are in the bin and beyond repair...hence fubar.

I guess I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and pay close to £1000 for a set of old Citroen mirrors.

Aren't there adaptors available to fit the VW Corrado mirrors that were used on the T cars?

Search old threads ..... fitting Corrado mirrors

Out of couriosity what had you managed to do to originals to make them totally unrepairable?

The Citroen CX mirrors were £100 a few years ago before the fact they were used on TVRs was widely known. frown

I see Racetech sell them for over £800 plus postage....

https://www.racetechdirect.co.uk/car-parts/body-tr...

There's a nearside one on ebay without the support column which can be got separately, and actually has a crack in it, but only £37 at time of posting:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-CX-N-S-mirror-L...

But for £550 + VAT you could have the job done for you at TVR Central with Corrado mirrors. They rarely update their website so it may be best to check first but from their website:

A few points here.

Even I managed to transfer the buttons from one set of mirrors to the next. So you can buy an earlier set, and just transfer the buttons (if you haven't binned them).

If you go for Corrado mirrors (as used on all T cars, Cerberas and some late Griffs), you will still need the buttons.
But I think you can buy the buttons with their wiring if you have binned them.

If you decide to go for Corrado mirrors you will either need to fill and paint the holes in the doors, or buy a pair of Fiberon adaptors. And of course the mirrors and adaptors will need to be painted to match the car.
The only issue I found with the Corrado mirrors is the wiring - there is one more wire than on the Citroen CX mirrors, so you need the wiring diagram. I got a Cerbera owning electrician friend to wire mine, and even he struggled.

Here's a comparison of how they look, and the overall look of the Corrado mirrors, fitted using the adaptors. When I bought mine, the adaptors cost about £100, the mirrors about £60. Best place to find them are dedicated VW breakers.

I had a root around in the shed this morning and I've found them! Really thought I'd binned them.
Anyway, this is what's left of them. I know the 'toadstools' are missing as they'd both snapped. The wiring doesn't look too healthy.

I assume they can be completely dismantled, refurbished and reassembled? Or are mine just broken? hehe

Toadstools were available last time I looked.
You should also invest in the fitting kit available from a guy on here. Lifts the mirror so the adjustment screw can be accessed.

I actually prefer the Citroen, sorry I mean Aston Martin/Jaguar XJ220 mirrors; the Corrado ones always look a little overweight/too large for the car.
