Who to purchase handbrake cable from!
Discussion
Morning gentlemen of distinction and all known mechanics or people who buy car parts regularly.
A mixture of Covid and internet fear has me wondering who I should trust to send me a quality new handbrake cable for my 2000 year Chim.
Any ideas guys.
PS Steve and others I might need help and a few prompts to remind me what I’m doing soon as I Hope to finish my body off. Thanks in advance

Racetech for the cable.
Where is the handbrake lever?
May sound a daft question but when I take a body off I undo the two bolts holding it to the chassis and leave it dangling from the gaiter.
If you have yours removed then refit to chassis but don't connect the cable at the lever. Park the lever as vertical as you can and be very carefull when fitting the body as the lever can get stuck and rip the gaiter.
Or stuff it up into the gaiter before fitting the body.
Fit the cable to the chassis before body on.
Run a tap through all the threads on the chassis before body on. When I run the tap through I use copper grease then the threads already have some lube before you fit any bolts (which you will also have coated with copper grease).

Wherever you purchase try to get the black sleeve covered one rather than the naked style Alun like Ford intended rather than a cheap and nasty bare style where the damp/dirt and moisture contaminates the coated inner cable shortening its life and bind free operation , its an easy job even with body on and exhaust off
Good
Crap

I think I disconnected cable at handbrake end and then unbolted handbrake mech from chassis before body off so handbrake should still be inside the car!
Thanks Simon after all that I’ll probably just get it from Coventry and yes it’s the a Ford type we want, thanks anyway chaps.

Can't be said about all TVR parts suppliers.
Who could you mean?TVR Parts got my last order to me in just 11 days (okay, one of them was a Bank Holiday)

Racetech have always been next day or day after if placing a late order, at least in my experience.
Very nice people too.
