Electric window mechanism
Discussion
Window woes continue, now the passenger window has given up halfway open.
Pushing the button, you can hear the motor clicking away on something but the glass is stuck,. Pulling or pushing it while operating the window does nothing.
Got the door card off and the problem seems to be with the mechanism ie that the motor is not turning it anymore.
I suppose I have to take it all out and have a closer look, but in anyone's experience, is this fixable or should I just start looking for a replacement mechanism from the usual scrap yards?

Over time water runs into the motor base housing & you end up with brown sludge cacking every thing up.
Take the motor out & have a look & clean it up. Little plastic grommets to allow lubrication but never get used.
Take the base off & give it a good clean. If all that fails it a new motor.

Took it all out to look at it and it seems that the gear at the end of the helical screw is wobbling all over the place where it connects to the spindle that comes out of the motor.
I suspect this means that it must be missing teeth or the bearing that it sits in is knackered and thus it is able to move around inside that sealed up housing that it is in.
I now know that this was a TVR part so does anyone know of or have one that they are willing to sell? The motor on mine still works so it is the long bit with the helical screw that I need.

A cheap possible solution.
I was after a motor last week, bought a new old stock item cheaply 'as fitted to london taxi's". Perfect fit exactly same as TVR original and 1/3 price.
Therefor if motor fits maybe mechanism could also fit (be made to fit ??)

I changed the electric window motor in my last Chimaera. The passenger side from a TX1 taxi is the one that fits the driver's side. Thread here from April:

You just change the whole motor. It's the gearing plate that makes them sided.
Brand new ones aren't too bad at £100 ish.

Both those links are for regulators only. If you need a motor, this is what's needed, but check it is the correct side:

I
Or with the regulator included below. I only bough the motors so I don't know if the regulator is the same and can be used with only the glass carrier being changed.

Nice, they look even closer, although the Chim ones do have a curve that mirrors the glass shape, but still for under £20 its pretty close and could be the major parts required. Maybe able to swap over the curved runner & glass carrier from TVR onto this motor/mechanism.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LTI-LONDONI-TAXI-TX1-TX...

For the passenger side, this is the one you want.
I have just replaced mine in the Griff.

BTW none of these regulators can be used, ask me how I know.
